Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health concerns, symptoms, goals, health history, and anything you want me to understand about your past care experiences. We may discuss pain patterns, injuries, stress, lifestyle factors, recovery history, and what you hope to achieve through treatment.
I assess not only where symptoms are showing up, but also the broader patterns that may be contributing to pain or dysfunction. This may include evaluating movement, tissue tension, posture, areas of sensitivity, and how different parts of the body may be interacting.
Your treatment may include acupuncture, manual therapy, or an integrated approach depending on your needs and what we decide together. Sessions are individualized, paced thoughtfully, and designed to be therapeutic, collaborative, and responsive to how you are feeling throughout.
Some patients feel immediate relief, while others notice changes unfold over the next hours or days. You may feel more relaxed, experience reduced pain, notice shifts in mobility, or feel temporary soreness as tissues and the nervous system adapt. I may also offer simple recommendations to support your progress between visits.

Your comfort, autonomy, and sense of safety matter. Treatment is collaborative, and informed consent is part of the process at every stage. We discuss what we are doing, why we are doing it, and you are always welcome to ask questions, pause, decline any technique, or adjust the pace of treatment.
I recognize that some patients - particularly those with trauma histories, LGBTQ+ patients, and those who have had difficult healthcare experiences - may come to treatment with understandable concerns about trust, communication, or bodily autonomy. My approach is grounded in respect, clear communication, and meeting you where you are. You remain in control of your care.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Depending on treatment, you may be asked to access areas such as arms, legs, shoulders, torso, or back, and draping is always used appropriately to support privacy and comfort.
Appointments are available in 60, 75, 90, and 120-minute sessions. Your treatment length will depend on your needs and goals.
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
Please reach us at Shen@ShenSifu.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Most people find acupuncture very tolerable. Sensations may include heaviness, warmth, tingling, or mild pressure, but treatment is generally gentle and should not feel alarming or overwhelming.
This is clinical treatment focused on pain, function, recovery, and nervous system regulation. Sessions are individualized and may include orthopedic, neuromuscular, myofascial, or integrative treatment approaches rather than a standard relaxation massage.
I am currently an out-of-network provider and can provide superbills for possible reimbursement. I am also working toward insurance credentialing, and updates will be posted as they become available.
That is completely fine. Many patients are new to acupuncture. I will explain the process, answer questions, and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You are welcome here. Treatment is collaborative, consent-based, and paced with communication throughout. You can set boundaries, ask for modifications, pause treatment, or decline any aspect of care at any time.
